The three ways to join a match

Quick Match
You want to play now and do not care who with.
Join the queue and the matchmaker seats you with three players inside your rating band. You do not choose your partner — the seating does, which is part of the difficulty and part of why the rating means something. Quick Match results are rated.
- Seated with players near your rating, so tables start roughly even.
- Partner assigned by seat, the same way a real table works.
- Rated: the result moves your rating and your league.
- Solo or as a pre-formed duo, if you already have a partner.

Live tables
You want to see who is playing before you sit down.
The table browser lists rooms that are short a player, with the people already sitting and what they are rated. Take the chair and you are in the next hand. It is the closest thing to walking into a room and looking for a game.
- See who is seated and what they are rated before joining.
- Rated and casual tables, filtered separately.
- Watch a table instead of joining it, if you would rather look first.
- Tables persist between hands, so there is always a next one.

Private rooms
You already have four and just want somewhere to play.
Open a room, get a short code, and send it to whoever you like. Nobody without the code can join. The room stays open between matches, so the same four people can play all evening and hit rematch without setting anything up again.
- A five-character code is all anybody needs.
- Choose the format and how long a hand runs.
- Never rated, so an evening with friends cannot cost you a ladder place.
- Fill an empty seat with a bot if somebody has to leave early.
When something goes wrong
The match is on the server, not in your tab.
Every card played is validated by the same authoritative host that deals the hand. Your browser draws the table; it does not decide anything. That is what makes the next three things possible.
- Refresh and sit back down
- Close the tab by accident, reload, or switch to your phone. Your seat and your cards are still there.
- A grace period, not an instant forfeit
- Losing signal for a moment does not lose you the match. The seat waits before it is considered abandoned.
- No client can cheat
- Your browser is never sent anybody else’s hand, so there is nothing to inspect and nothing to exploit.
- One account everywhere
- Browser and phone players share tables, ratings, friends and tournaments. The device is not the account.
Friends and clubs
The fourth chair is usually somebody you know.
Add players you enjoyed a table with and their presence tells you what to do next — challenge them, watch the match they are in, or join the table they are sitting at. A club turns a regular four into a permanent one, with its own table and its own ranking.
